Sponsored Blogging is a way of creating income from your blog or website.

By writing articles about specific topics including keywords from advertisers you can earn credit, and it can pay quite well.Even if you don’t have a very popular blog you can still make decent beer money from sites like pay per post and Social Spark.

However there are some rules that you should follow for all your hard work to pay off. Make sure you make regular non sponsored posts, each provider of opportunities will have different rules around how many non sponsored posts you are required to make in between sponsored, but importantly you also need to keep your readership happy with your own posts.

If you have your own domain name then you will get more opportunities, so this should be considered a must do.

Make sure you don’t put Ad’s, eg banner Ads ( Google Ads) or context sensitive pop ups in sponsored posts, as these will get your posts rejected.

Finally Make sure you follow any disclosure rules set by the provider, if you make sponsored posts you must let your readership know.

Videos can be a useful addition to a blog or website, they add interest for your audience and drive repeat visitors to your site, videos can be a very useful form of sticky content.

There is also a way to make money from videos using Voxant Newsroom who provide a wide selection of individual video articles and also Video feeds. The videos carry advertising and some of the revenue generated gets passed back to you.

For every 1000 views of a video you get $3.50.

There is also an option to auto play videos where the videos automatically start to play when your site loads, these carry a lower rate of pay pf $0.50 for every 1000 views, but if you have high traffic this may work form a good source of income.

Many web sites and blogs use Google Adsense as a revenue stream to monetize their pages, but how many actually read the terms and conditions that you are required to accept when you sign upto Adsense?

One of the terms and conditions is that you need to publish a Privacy Policy on your site. If you haven’t done this before then you can view an Adsense compatible Privacy Policy Template  by clicking here.

Make sure you follow those Adsense  Terms and conditions or you might get a nasty suprise.

Its now been a month since my last update on how Kontera compares to Adsense so I thought I would see how the comparison is going but over a slightly longer Time Frame.

I’ve install both systems on a number of my sites and here’s the results between 2nd August and 13th October.

Adsense:
Total Page Impressions: 6953
Number of Clicks: 30
Earnings ($): 4.22
Average earning per click ($): 0.14
Average number of impressions per click: 231.77

Kontera:
Total Page Impressions: 6,014
Number of Clicks: 64
Earnings ($): 1.42
Average earning per click ($): 0.02
Average number of impressions per click: 93.97

In summary, my comparisons continue to show that Kontera gets significantly more clicks then Adsense but Adsense has significantly better rates of pay.

Most of us would like to make money from our blogs, but it’s not always easy – especially when starting out with a blog, as it can take years before a significant amount of traffic reaches our sites to make schemes like Adense very profitable.

However there are revenue streams out there that you can join to start the revenue flowing to your site or blog, one of them is The AdNetwork.

The AdNetwork will pay you a regular sum (currently £5)  every month for displaying their adverts on 3 of the pages on your site. This may not sound like a lot of money but it’s a regular set income, at the very least it’s £60 a year which should cover any hosting or domain costs that your occur.

There are no limits to how many sites you submit the The Adnetwork  so for those of you that run several sites it could become quite profitable. They do perform checks on your submitted site to make sure that you meet their criteria, but this is normal practice.

YouGov have sent me another quick survey to complete, it only took 5 mins and earnt me 50p.

I did also notice that they have changed their system a little, rather then credit you in currency they pay you in credits, and when you get to a certain number of points they send you a cheque for £50.

In reality this doesn’t change anything as 1point = 1 pence

YouGov is a well respected and professional research and consulting organisation, which has pioneered the use of the Internet and information technology to gain information for it’s partners.

After you join YouGov you will receive the option to take part in regular surveys, most take less then 10 mins to complete and are easy to complete. For each survey you complete you will be compensated for your time and you normally receive between 50p and £1, this may not sound like a lot of money, but its soon builds up and recently I received a cheque for £50.

In addition if you refer any of your friends to join, every time they earn money within their first 3 months on the site you will earn the same amount.
