The Joys of Sponsored Blogging

by JPM on Jan.05, 2010, under Blogging, Monetization, Money Making, Traffic

Sponsored Blogging is a way of creating income from your blog or website.

By writing articles about specific topics including keywords from advertisers you can earn credit, and it can pay quite well.Even if you don’t have a very popular blog you can still make decent beer money from sites like pay per post and Social Spark.

However there are some rules that you should follow for all your hard work to pay off. Make sure you make regular non sponsored posts, each provider of opportunities will have different rules around how many non sponsored posts you are required to make in between sponsored, but importantly you also need to keep your readership happy with your own posts.

If you have your own domain name then you will get more opportunities, so this should be considered a must do.

Make sure you don’t put Ad’s, eg banner Ads ( Google Ads) or context sensitive pop ups in sponsored posts, as these will get your posts rejected.

Finally Make sure you follow any disclosure rules set by the provider, if you make sponsored posts you must let your readership know.

If you use Adsense you must have a privacy policy

by JPM on Oct.18, 2009, under Blogging, Monetization, Money Making

google-adsense-logo-350_0Many web sites and blogs use Google Adsense as a revenue stream to monetize their pages, but how many actually read the terms and conditions that you are required to accept when you sign upto Adsense?

One of the terms and conditions is that you need to publish a Privacy Policy on your site. If you haven’t done this before then you can view an Adsense compatible Privacy Policy Template  by clicking here.

Make sure you follow those Adsense  Terms and conditions or you might get a nasty suprise.

An update on how Adsense compares to Kontera for money making on blogs

by JPM on Oct.14, 2009, under Blogging, Monetization, Money Making

pound sign Its now been a month since my last update on how Kontera compares to Adsense so I thought I would see how the comparison is going but over a slightly longer Time Frame.

I’ve install both systems on a number of my sites and here’s the results between 2nd August and 13th October.

Adsense:
Total Page Impressions: 6953
Number of Clicks: 30
Earnings ($): 4.22
Average earning per click ($): 0.14
Average number of impressions per click: 231.77

Kontera:
Total Page Impressions: 6,014
Number of Clicks: 64
Earnings ($): 1.42
Average earning per click ($): 0.02
Average number of impressions per click: 93.97

In summary, my comparisons continue to show that Kontera gets significantly more clicks then Adsense but Adsense has significantly better rates of pay.

How does Adsense compare to Kontera for making money on blogs.

by JPM on Sep.13, 2009, under Blogging, Monetization

pound sign I’ve been running both Adsense and Kontera on some of my sites (including Netbook Experience) to see if it’s possible to make any money from small blogs, so I thought I would report back here.

Google Adsense allows a number of different types of context sensitive adverts to be place on a webpage or blog in distinctive Ad boxs. Adsense Ad placement is a hot topic as better results are obtained with better site integration. The site owner is paid money each time a user clicks on a Advert.

Kontera provides a context sensitive service where keywords are underlined, when the mouse rolls over a keyword an advert pops up, and again the site owner is paid money each time a user clicks on a Advert.

I’ve install both systems on a number of my sites and here’s the results over a 2 week period.

Adsense:
Total Page Impressions: 1,494
Number of Clicks: 4
Earnings ($): 1.16
Average earning per click ($): 0.29
Average number of impressions per click: 373.5

Kontera:
Total Page Impressions: 1,441
Number of Clicks: 23
Earnings ($): 0.63
Average earning per click ($): 0.027391304
Average number of impressions per click: 62.65217391

In summary, in my experience Kontera gets significantly more clicks then Adsense but Adsense has significantly better rates of pay.

A better way to Integrate Google into your Blog – makes AdSense more relevant.

by JPM on Aug.16, 2009, under Blogging, General, Monetization, Traffic

google_logo I had been trying a few different plugin’s to implement Google AdSense and Analytics, with varying success – especially with AdSense ad’s not being relevant to my Blog.

I’ve found a different plug in called Google Integration Toolkit, you can find it by searching the available plugins through the admin dashboard.

In one plugin you can set your Analytics Code, set your tracking code for the Google WebMasters toolkit and also insert a couple of settings to help your AdSense plugin.

Certainly since I made the change Adsense is definitely becoming more appropriate to my content.

Another post added to Netbook Experience and the next steps.

by JPM on Aug.05, 2009, under Blogging, Monetization

I’ve added another post to Netbook-Experience.com

In today’s post, I’ve explained how to install Picasa on the Linux Version of the Acer Aspire One.

The next step for me is to look into the Monetization of my blogs, there are 2 methods that I’m investigating at the moment, Adsense & Kontera.

There are different ways to implement either method in WordPress, so I’m currently investigating which method generates the best results.

I’ll also be looking into other methods of using the Internet to generate money.
