You Don’t have the spend a fortune on the iPhone

by JPM on Jul.01, 2010, under Technology

There is definite move from fixed desktop computing to Mobile Computing.

Smartphones allow you to perform most daily computer tasks anywhere, and allow Bloggers or writers to be creative anywhere.

The iPhone range of phones are popular but often the price puts potential users off.

Three have just announced their prices for both the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3gs, and by opting to provide the device on 2 year contracts the initial pricing is cheaper. This will open the door to users original put off by the high outlay.

With 3′s iPhone pricing you can pick up a 3gs for no initial outlay, and an iPhone 4 for only £99 pound upfront on a £30 a month contract, or free on a £45 pound a month contract

by JPM on Jun.21, 2010, under Technology

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of SeeSaw. All opinions are 100% mine.

Screen_shot_2010-06-15_at_8The way people are watching TV is changing, people are moving away from watching TV programs at scheduled times of transmition to watching their favourite programs at a time which suits them. The method of content delivery is changing as well, with more viewers watching TV on their computers rather then on a TV, in fact  never have viewers had as much flexibility or choice, they can choose when, where and how.

SeeSaw is a provider of top quality TV programs, who deliver both free and paid for content straight to your computer screen.  They offer hundreds of hours of programing  for free from top broadcasters like the BBC, Channel 4, Channel 5, as well as showing programs from independent studios and films. They have a large Comedy Section which is always good to provide something to cheer you up. In the future they will also be adding sporting events.

SeeSaw also offer a rental facility where you can rent top premium television shows from the UK and US, and don’t forget you can also access video on demand with 4oD and Demand Five programs. SeeSaw have integrated social networking facilities into their system so that you can let your friends know what you are watching through Facebook and Twitter.

Mobile Blogging

by JPM on Mar.01, 2010, under Blogging, Technology

No longer are bloggers tied to their desktop computers and Modems.

There are now many ways that a blogger can write articles whilst on the move.

Wifi is becoming more readily available, from homes to libraries to coffee shops, so any wifi equipped device from Laptop to iPod touch can be used to go on line and blog.

So what happens if you haven’t got access to Wifi but want to blog, well there’s the 3g mobile networks.

Most modern mobile phones include an Internet browser which can be used to write blog posts and some will even provide dedicated blogging apps, but for longer posts the lack of  a dedicated keyboard can be a problem.

The Mobile Internet can be provided to laptops or netbooks through 3g usb dongles,  where a true Internet experience at a respectable speed can be achieved for a reasonable cost, but this only allows one device to connect a once, and the device needs to be a computer.

Another option is to get a 3g to wifi router like the 3 Mifi. Theses devices provide access to the 3g data networks through a portable wifi router, so any wifi enabled device can access the net and be used for blogging. These devices also allow multiple devices to connect at the same time.

So never feel that you can only blog from home, there are many options that allow you to blog from anywhere.

TechPlay-Experience.com Launched

by JPM on Oct.21, 2009, under Blogging, Technology

techplayI’ve found myself posting more and more technology and videogame news and articles on this blog, and as they are topics that really interest me I thought I would create a dedicated blog where I can write just about these subjects.

I’ve registered a Domain name: http://techplay-experience.com/ and created a blog there and my first task has been to install Google Analytics using the Google Integration Tool Kit.

A New Video of RUSE

by JPM on Oct.18, 2009, under Technology

ruseI’ve been following the video game RUSE for a while, as it  takes the concepts behind table top war gaming and  integrates them into a computer and console video game.

There have been a number of videos released which show how the game play works in detail….and the game is looking superb.

This latest video shows how tactics play a big part of the game and how decoys can be used to gain the advantage of your enemy.

A Video of RUSE running on Microsoft Surface

by JPM on Sep.27, 2009, under Technology

ruseRUSE is an forth coming multi format Real Time Strategy game, which goes back to the routes of the genre by replicating the mechanics of table top war Gaming.

In a technolical twist the game appears to be compatible with the soon to be release Microsoft Surface Interface where users interact with the computer through a touch screen table top.

The video below shows how well this form of control really integrates traditional Table Top War Gaming with technology.
